Friends Under One Roof of Art
Friends Under One Roof of Art is a group exhibition that brings together a distinguished selection of artists whose practices have played a significant role in shaping the regional art scene. The exhibition presents a visual dialogue between diverse artistic experiences, united within a single space where memory, friendship, and lived experience intersect through art.
The exhibition features works by Dia Al-Azzawi, Jassim Zaini, Ismail Fattah, Ismail Azzam, and Youssef Ahmed, celebrating a shared artistic journey that spans decades. Each artist contributes a distinct voice, while collectively reflecting a deep connection formed through years of creative exchange and companionship.
Reflecting on this gathering, Dr. Hammam Fikry describes the exhibition as a reunion of enduring presences shaped by time and memory. He notes that while each artist carries traces of companions and friends who have passed, their memories remain alive in the heart and on the wall. Their shadows, once part of the corridors of the Qatar Art Center, meet again within the halls of AlHosh Gallery, allowing their works and memories to continue expressing a lifetime of artistic and human experience that has passed, yet never truly ended.
Friends Under One Roof of Art also marked the official opening of AlHosh Gallery’s new space at The Pearl, Porto Arabia 1, representing a new chapter in the gallery’s journey and its growing presence within Qatar’s cultural landscape.
The exhibition was honored by the visit of Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani during the opening, reflecting her continued support for the arts and her longstanding commitment to nurturing artistic movements in Qatar and internationally. This visit stands as a significant moment for AlHosh Gallery and underscores the importance of independent art spaces in fostering cultural dialogue and creative expression.
