Deen: The Art of Faith
Alhosh Gallery presented the second edition of “Deen: The Art of Faith”, an exhibition exploring Islamic spirituality through contemporary visual expression, with a particular focus on practices of architecture, memory, and spiritual identity.
The exhibition brought together works by a selected group of contemporary artists including Camille Zakharia and Ali Karimi through an architectural and photographic installation, alongside Ayaz Rauf, AbdulRahman El-Zein, Zainab Alsabba, Fatima Alsharshani, Farjana Salahuddin, Saad Howede, and Moza Al-Kuwari.
The exhibition also featured a selection of gifts and objects connected to the Holy Places of Mecca and Medina, presented to His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, displayed within a visual and conceptual dialogue connecting historical memory with contemporary experience.
Through photography, installation, conceptual practices, and sacred objects from the Holy Places, the exhibition reflected on faith as a lived experience shaped by memory, ritual, architecture, and personal reflection.
Deen: The Art of Faith invited visitors to engage with the evolving visual language of Islamic belief within a contemporary context, highlighting the enduring relationship between spirituality, place, and artistic practice.
The exhibition opening was also attended by a number of prominent cultural and intellectual figures, including His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, His Excellency Mr. Essa bin Ghanem Al-Kuwari, architect Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil, and Hashem Qaddumi, reflecting the significance of the dialogue the exhibition presented around faith, architecture, and contemporary visual identity.
