Inshallah It Loads: Art in the Age of Algorithms
Inshallah It Works: Art in the Age of Algorithms
Alhosh Gallery presented “Inshallah It Works:
Art in the Age of Algorithms”, a group exhibition exploring how algorithms, artificial intelligence, and digital systems shape contemporary human experience.
The exhibition brought together newly commissioned works by Qatar-based artists including Christto & Andrew, Farjana Salahuddin, Mubarak Al Thani, Maha Al Subaey, TheeeNourah, and Wurood Azzam.
These works approached technology not as a neutral tool, but as a system that directly influences what we see, how we behave, and what we choose to believe.
Through installations, digital interventions, and immersive environments, the artists examined the hidden structures of the systems we inhabit, highlighting the tension between visibility and invisibility, between what works and what fails, and what remains unseen.
Within this context, the exhibition raised questions about the cultural and psychological impact of technology, addressing how digital platforms shape memory, language, belief systems, and social structures.
It also reflected on the growing tension between automated systems and human agency.
Beyond the exhibition itself, a public program of activities was developed to bridge the gap between technology and audiences, creating space for dialogue and critical reflection.
Among these, a panel discussion addressed one of the most pressing questions of the digital age:
“Who truly holds creative agency in the age of algorithms?”
Titled:
“Who Trains Whom? Artists, Algorithms, and Ownership”,
the session brought together curator Mariam Al Thani, artists Farjana Salahuddin and Wurood Azzam, and researcher and curator Alfredo Cramerotti (Media Majlis Museum), in a discussion exploring how digital tools are redefining the concept of originality and the future of creative identity.
